The sector rotation map: money changing seats
Markets rarely rise or fall all at once. More often money plays musical chairs, rotating from one sector to the next. Read the rotation and you know where to sit now and where the next seat may open.
How to visualize it
- Sector heatmap: which sector is strongest and weakest right now, at a glance;
- Relative strength ranking: sort each sector's ratio to the index — leaders on top;
- Rotation quadrant (RRG): two axes — relative strength and its momentum — sort sectors into leading / weakening / lagging / improving, with arrows pointing to the next step.
The logic of rotation
Money flows from overvalued sectors into undervalued ones with a fresh story. When leaders stall and money quietly enters laggards, a rotation is often brewing. Follow the money, not the news.
Further: the overall health of a rotation shows in breadth — see market breadth; down to "who is stronger," see relative strength comparison.
